Commissioned by the Scottish Seabird Centre, North Berwick, the stainless steel arch stands above the harbour, with views over the Firth of Forth in one direction and, in the other, over the rooftops of the town to the Law, the site of a whalebone arch whose shape it echoes. Three gannets in various stages of flight adorn the arch. Gannets are the iconic birds of the Centre, nesting on the nearby Bass Rock.
